Cartoons to Learn Chinese
I can’t understand Chinese very well yet. Every once in a while I understand a complete sentence without trying, and I get very excited. I’ve found that watching kids cartoons in Chinese is a great confidence builder because I have a higher likelihood of understanding everything.
While in Chinatown the other day I found a box set of a cartoon from Japan that had the dialog completely redone into Chinese. It is a fabulous show! It’s entertaining and I can understand quite a bit of it.
I don’t know the name unfortunately, because it’s in Japanese (I think), but here is a shot of the main characters:
The boy and the cat (I think that’s a cat with no ears from what I can tell) run around and get in adventures. If you can find the box set, I recommend you check it out. It’s nice learning material.
Another nice resource is YouTube.com. If you search for “Chinese cartoons” you will find quite a few small clips that are also very useful. Here is my playlist for Chinese cartoons:
